Erin Yudt has spent her life inquiring about the world around her, using her personal and career experiences and curiosities to write and produce news for newspapers and broadcast stations in order to provide communities with important news happening around them. While her specialty may be news, she also reports on stories in features, arts and entertainment, opinions, and sports sections to educate wider audiences and give voices to underrepresented individuals across all areas.
Erin knows that the journalism field is constantly evolving, so she continues to educate herself on emerging editing platforms for print, social media, photography, and videography to provide the most skilled producing and editing for print and television by creating dynamic media projects for publication. She has experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, as well as iMovie and the Google and Microsoft suites. She has interned at The Sharon Herald, is editor-elect of The Globe, and is an apprentice with Point Park University’s News Service. She is currently working on a start-up e-newsletter as well, covering Pittsburgh City Council and Pittsburgh Public Schools meetings.
Erin graduated as salutatorian from Sharpsville Area High School. She has also taken classes through the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State University Shenango Campus. Erin is a diverse journalist, and her work has been published in Point Park University’s The Globe and News Service, U-View’s NewsNight, The Sharon Herald, and The Tribune Review. She is the editor of this project.
Erin is currently an honors student and junior at Point Park University in downtown Pittsburgh. She plans to graduate in the spring of 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in psychology. She also plans to obtain a Master’s degree in media communication and aspires to work for The New York Times.
