August Stephens

August Stephens (he/they) is a sophomore Honors Journalism student with a Photography minor in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is the Opinions Editor for The Globe, Point Park University’s student-run, independent newspaper, and the Assistant General Manager of the university’s radio-station, WPPJ 670. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Stephens represents the Gender Sexuality Spectrum Alliance as Secretary. August is also passionate about neurodivergent studies and trauma-informed practices. They have received Sexual Violence Intervention Training through Pittsburgh Action Against Rape and are a mandated reporter. 

 August Stephens is well-organized, diligent, and adaptable in an array of areas of life. As a result, he also is a student representative for Spiritual Life on campus and a Coordinator for the Inclusive Student Leadership Association. They actively use mindfulness techniques to soothe bodies in professional spaces. He is also soon-to-be one of the Secretaries of Name (Pen)ding, Point Park University’s creative writing club. In his spare time Stephens enjoys bouldering, writing poetry, and finding the next musical artist to listen too. August aims to continue their student work and progress their career by pursuing a Master’s in Library and Information Science.
