Alexis Wary (she/her) is currently a senior who attends Point Park University where she studies journalism with a photography minor. She recently joined The Pittsburgh Foundation as a communications and marketing intern. She studied abroad for 5 months at The University of Salford in Manchester, UK during the 2022 semester. I worked alongside fellow journalism students to produce a podcast called Seemingly Radom Events, specifically focusing on how the Kings Speech therapist led to the Phone Hacking Scandal. Alexis is a staff photographer and occasional writer for the independent student-led newspaper The Globe. For her practicum, she worked with Point Park’s admissions marketing to take photos for Point Park’s website and social media. She also worked with the Center for Media and Innovation and contributed to the 2021 Annual Report. She is the photo editor for the Refugee Report Magazine.
Alexis has been working as a photography lab assistant for Point Park’s studios and darkroom since 2019, where she works with film photography development and photo studio maintenance. She has been an active member of Strong Women Strong Girls since 2019 and is currently an advocate for the organization on campus. She also hosts The Vibe radio show on WPPJ Point Park Radio, playing various indie, rock, and alternative music. Alexis looks to use her photography and storytelling skills to produce both creative and documentative images.
When she is not in class, Alexis loves to listen to music, shoot analog film photography, practice yoga, find delicious and unique food spots and read as much as possible.
