Anthony Cugini

My name’s Anthony Cugini and I’m a sophomore journalism major at Point Park University. I’ve been writing news articles for almost four years. I’ve been covering the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins for Point Park’s student run newspaper “The Globe” for two years. In high school, I was a member of my school’s newspaper and television station.

When it comes to this publication, I cover the history of refugees and some of the ongoing issues in certain countries. Through research, I cover the history of refugees coming to America and why refugees have to come to the U.S. in the first place.

I’d like to use my journalism degree to cover sports for a news outlet. Whether it’s for a major outlet or a minor one, it doesn’t make much difference to me. I’ve always had an interest in both writing and sports and I’d be happy if my career included those two things. A longer term goal for my professional career is to become an author. Writing a book is something I’ve attempted to accomplish a few times but I haven’t been able to do yet.

In my personal life, I’m an avid sports fan. I’ve been to over one hundred professional baseball games in my lifetime. I also play baseball in an adult league for a team called the Tavern Turtles.
